The Most Refreshing Summer Drink Crafted With Sweet Watermelon and Tart Lemons

Blistering summer months call for something more refreshing than water. Something tangy and lightly sweet without tasting like liquid sugar. Enter the fresh watermelon lemonade.

Like a Refreshing Blackberry Iced Tea, this Watermelon Lemonade balances fresh fruits with classic lemonade. The natural sweetness of a juicy watermelon produces a not-too-sweet drink for those who don’t have a big sweet tooth.

It’s so easy to make this refreshing drink. First, you need to puree the watermelon and then make the homemade lemonade. You can use store-bought lemonade if you like to make the process even quicker. I personally love the tartness of homemade lemonade in this recipe.

Once you’ve created your watermelon juice and lemonade, you combine the two over ice. The best part about this recipe is that you can customize how much lemonade or watermelon juice you prefer to get your desired result. I love serving this drink as part of a cook-out with slow cooker ribs and creamy mac and cheese.

Customizing Homemade Watermelon Lemonade

  • If you plan on serving a big crowd, you can make a large pitcher of this beverage and serve it alongside cups and ice.
  • Nobody likes a watered-down drink, so I recommend freezing the lemonade in ice cube trays and using those to make your drink!
  • Add fresh mint leaves on top for an even more refreshing experience.
